March 2013
Welcome, my friends, to March’s journey of Plein Air 365â„¢ 2013,
Well, it’s finally spring! I hope you are enjoying these warmer days that we have been having lately. Even though it’s been getting warmer, March still hit us with some nice little snow storms. One of the nice things about the spring snows is all of the great variety of colors to paint. Everything from cool shadows in the snow to warm grasses that are starting to poke through the winter frost, and even the willows are beginning to get some really nice red and orange colors to them.
March also brings the start of the spring run-off in the rivers and creeks. I enjoy painting by the creeks and rivers, and when the water starts to get high, it’s a very impressive thing to watch. Standing next to the water, painting, one can’t help but feel the power the water brings. The roaring of the water and the feeling that it produces in the ground is an amazing thing to experience, and then trying to capture that feeling and putting it on canvas is a great challenge.
There is so much more that I could share with you about each painting, but that will have to wait. For now, please sit back and enjoy March’s journey.
Best wishes,
Ted
May love fill your heart and art fill your life.
