July 2010

Hello my friends and welcome to July’s journey of Plein Air 365 by T. Garcia!

July, what a busy month of art it was. The first week started with the Plein Air Artists of Colorado national juried show at Saks Gallery. This was the first time I submitted to the show and felt quite honored to have been accepted. With over 200 artists and only 100 being accepted, it was quite exciting. I would also like to say thank you to everyone that stopped by the show. Without your kind support none of this would have been possible.

Then the second week came and I was off to yet another wedding, this time in Craig, Colorado. It was my nephew Kevin and his new lovely bride Chris’s wedding. I think most of the town was there that beautiful day. After a few days of painting in Northwest Colorado, I was once again on the road heading home for a week of local scenes.

The third week had me taking off again to the charming and oh so friendly town of Frisco, Colorado. I have many pieces hanging in the Frisco Fine Art Gallery and was invited to paint the local downtown scene from their patio as well as Dillon Reservoir.

Then it was time to head back for a few days. But come August second, I will be in Wyoming for two weeks painting everything from Yellowstone, Devil’s Tower to Cheyenne and every place in between. I once again feel quite fortunate to be accepted into another national juried show held in Cheyenne. It is the Wyoming Plein Air Event, and for more information, please look at http://www.linkgalleryonline.com. The opening of the show is August 14th. If you are looking for a fun last summer outing or if you would just like to get out of town for the day, there is a Quick Draw Painting competition August 14, from 8:30-10 am downtown in the front of the Depot Museum before the reception. The reception will be held at Link Gallery from 4-8pm. I guarantee there will be some great art at great prices. I hope to see you there! The show will run from the opening on Saturday, August 14th through September 30th, 2010.

Before I go, I would like to say thank you to my sponsors for the Wyoming Plein Air 2010 event, Charlene and Jeff Busk of Wyoming and Claudia Barnes of Colorado. Without their support, this Wyoming journey would not have been possible.

Well that’s all for July. I hope you had as great of a month and until next month take care and enjoy the days of summer!

Ted Garcia
