February 2010

Hello,

Wow, I can’t believe that it’s already March. I hope you have enjoyed our journey of this past January and now I have images of February’s journey up on www.tedgarcia.com. It has been quite interesting this past month for me to do Plein Air 365â„¢. I started the month off with a flu that made going out daily for a week quite challenging. All I can say is thank goodness for Dayquil, it worked just long enough to get my daily painting in. After a week of the flu I started to get better only to get a sinus infection (ouch! did someone just hit me in the face with a baseball bat) oh, the pain… but, the painting must go on. And, did I mention, it was only around 8-38°f and the wind seamed to blow from a constant breeze to a full force gale that wouldn’t quit, or when it did it just so happened to after I finished painting. Ah, but that is truly the beauty of Plein Air 365â„¢. It gives me quite a sense of accomplishment to struggle through the physical and mental challenge that painting in the cold, wind, snow or even being ill can bring. I love it. With all things in nature needing to be in balance, so with the bad, also came the good.

While out painting rock climbers in Morrison, CO, I met Mr. Roger Wendell, an avid outdoors-man and artist as well. We began to chat about what I was doing there and I told him about Plein Air 365â„¢ by Ted Garcia, he liked the idea and ask if he could do a quick short interview for youtube.com, if you would like to see it here is a link, http://www.rogerwendell.com/art.html or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpLqjW6V5yA. Roger then said that he was a local speaker and contributor on 88.5 KGNU radio, a station out of Boulder, CO, and if I would like to do a interview, “wow, absolutely” I said (while trying to hide the pain of the sinus infection). KGNU and Mr. Wendell are going to do a 8-15 minute interview for their “Metro Arts” a regular Friday afternoon feature. I will let everyone know the broadcast date. I’m very excited and look quite forward to this, thank you very much Roger and KGNU. This is part of the reason I love Plein Air painting, not only do I get to see beautiful and interesting places, it also gives me a chance to meet and speak with people that I normally wouldn’t if I wasn’t out at all.

I also wanted to say Thank You, and Congratulations! to the Moores of Norman, OK. They are now the proud owners of “Snowy Covered Evergreen”. Along with their new painting, Mr. & Mrs. Moore will receive a one of a kind print of their painting.

Since I are planing to have a huge unveiling of all 365 paintings at the end of the year I will need to hold the original until after the opening. This is why I am offering a one of a kind same size as the original print to everyone who purchase a Plein Air 365â„¢ painting, so you can still enjoy your painting until you receive your original. Your painting will be marked as sold and your name mentioned in our monthly letter.

I am planning to have a opening December 31st with the completion of the last painting of 2009 and kicking off a New Year. It will showcase all of the “Plein Air 365â„¢” paintings and continuing through the beginning of 2010. I have had many wonderful offers but I have not yet set a location. I know it seems a long way off but as fast as time flies, it will be here before we know it. So keep the date open and please plan to join us then.

Thank you very much for your time, I hope you enjoy February’s journey as mush as I did. March is off to a fresh new breath along with many new and unknown travels, how exciting!!!

Sincerely,
Ted
