April 2009

Hello,

Welcome to April’s journey of Ted Garcia’s Plein Air 365â„¢. Finally after a few technical difficulties we have April’s images up on www.tedgarcia.com

Can you feel it? Spring is here, the flowers are blooming, the hummingbirds are back, the days are much longer and I’ve put away my thermal suite. But looking back at April’s paintings, it’s hard to believe it was the beginning of spring with all the snow that had fallen.

Speaking of fallen snow, I had a few interesting visitors while out painting in the snow. It seems as though a few people (3 to be exact) had nothing better to do than to call the Sheriff. Anyway, to make a few long stories short, the Sheriff(s) arrived, had a perplexed look as they couldn’t figure out why they had been called, and then proceeded to have a nice brief talk with the painter standing in the snow.

While I was painting my 100th painting of the year, I call “Ring The Bell It’s #100”, I had a chance to make a new friend visiting Colorado while on vacation from California. His name is Flat Stanley… “Thank you for showing Flat Stanley your painting. Flat Stanley is going back to Harbor Day School in Corona del Mar on Tuesday. I know that he had fun in Evergreen and that he was impressed, as I am, with your painting and your web site.” Thanks again, Herb J”. I felt that Flat Stanley and I had something in common, we are both on a daily journey that has no set destination. It’s an interesting feeling to know that you have to go out but you don’t know where your going.

I finally got the chance to paint this wonderful red rock outcropping just out side of Morrison, CO. for Earth Day I call it Nude Study Of Mother Earth. The cool thing that happened was while I was painting, a small heard of mule deer decided to wonder through, and for a brief few moments posed for me. Thank you deer friends and Mother Earth for a wonderful scene.

Thank you all for the kind words and warm support that you have given me during this journey. So, now please sit back and enjoy April’s journey of Plein Air 365â„¢.
Sincerely,
Ted
