June 2010

Hello friends,

Welcome to June’s journey of Plein Air 365! And I must admit it was quite a busy month filled with travel, art shows, and many wonderful places to paint.

June started with poppies, poppies, and more poppies! I really enjoy painting poppies. They vary from soft, delicate, and almost transparent to very bold and full of body. They are challenging and wonderful to paint.

Between driving from Denver to Evergreen, we went to Fort Collins for my dear friend’s wedding, and what a great time it was. Besides seeing a beautiful wedding, I had a chance to paint some white roses. I also had the chance to do a painting of a can of tomato soup. This was no ordinary can of soup, it is an actual hand signed Andy Warhol Tomato Soup Can, that stands about 15 feet tall. It’s a little odd to see something so New York in a town that is so Colorado. If you’re ever in Fort Collins, Colorado, it is a piece of art worth seeing.

I was then off to paint some poppies before they were gone and I’ll have to wait a whole year to paint them again. It is because of things as simple as the poppies that make me appreciate each day that we have. We’re not much different than the poppies. Full of life, bold with color, standing strong as an individual, but can not live without the many, and like all things in this world, even getting an entire month of painting poppies will come to an end. So comes the day when I get my brushes, paint, easel, and canvas, only to find that the poppies are gone. And it makes me realize how fortunate we are. But like the poppies, we can live again through the seeds that we leave behind.

Well, I hope you enjoy June as I did, and it looks like July is going to be just as exciting. So, until next month, I hope you continue to have a wonderful summer!

Ted

May love fill your heart, and art fill your life.

P.S. Thank you to everyone who has reserved their days so far. It’s still not to late to reserve your special day. Also, we are still looking for a new location to hold 2010’s Plein Air 365 show. Last year was a great success and this year looks to be even bigger! So if you, or perhaps someone you may know, would like to host this wonderful show we would like to speak with you.
