May 2012
Welcome, my friends, to May’s journey of Plein Air 365â„¢, 2012,
I hope you are having a great summer, even though it’s been a little warm lately, but nonetheless, it’s been a nice start. Looking back at May, it’s hard to believe with the current 100 degree temperatures that just a month ago we had a snow storm. This is part of the reason why I love painting plein air; I get the chance to look back and appreciate what we have just gone through. For me, each painting is a little way to revisit the beauty of each day past — good, bad, or perhaps just an indifferent kind of day.
May was full of wonderful flowers to paint, and I tried to take advantage of every day of color that I could find. The poppies and iris started to bloom as the last of the lilacs were fading away, so I drove the mountain area looking for as many flowers as I could find. I think it’s a thrill to stumble upon a mountain field full of poppies or wild iris. There is just something amazing about it.
Well now it’s time to move on to June. With warmer temps in the air, and the endless supply of amazing things to paint, I look forward to what this year’s summer will offer. I also hope you have a fantastic summer, full of excitement and adventure! But for now, please sit back and enjoy May’s journey.
Best wishes!
Ted
