June 2011
Hello, and welcome my friends, to June’s journey of Plein Air 365!
June was a great month to paint – full of new changes and challenges for me. Once again, I found myself drawn to the lilacs. I knew the time to paint them would soon be near an end, so I tried to take advantage of as many as I could. I just love to paint lilacs! The structure, along with the variety of color, is quite appealing to me. All good things must come to an end though. However, fear not, it is now time for the wonderful whites, reds, and vibrant oranges of the poppies (my next favorite flower to paint). I get so excited about painting the flowers of spring and summer, because we have such a short time here in Colorado to enjoy the wonderful colors. I can paint a river, mountain, or cityscape anytime, but the time I get to paint flowers is quite finite, which is why I try to paint as many as I can, when I can. It reminds me of how finite we humans are. One day the garden is full of blossoms, and the next day, a few friends are gone, and then a few more. The next thing you know, it’s just you looking at an empty flower bed, remembering all the wonderful times you had enjoying them – realizing another year has passed, and how fortunate we are to get another day. Well, the year, nor the flower season, is quite over yet, so I guess I still have time to enjoy a month or two of painting the beautiful flowers.
I am currently on a two week adventure of painting the wonderful state of Wyoming. I will be having two shows on Saturday, August 13 in Cheyenne. If you are in the area, please stop by the Link Gallery (www.linkgalleryonline.com) as well as Deselms Fine Art (www.deselmsfineart.com). There a quick draw competition and auction in the morning and the show and reception in the evening. I hope to see you there!
Well, until next month, I leave you with June’s journey of Plein Air 365. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did painting it!
May love fill your heart and art fill your life.
Best Wishes,
Ted
