June 2013
Welcome, my friends, to June’s 2013 Plein Air 365â„¢,
Well, June is one of my favorite months to paint. It’s the time of year when my favorite flower, the lilac, starts to bloom in my area, and this year was fantastic. We had a nice, wet spring that helped fill out the blossoms and create some wonderful colors.
June is also when the poppies pop! They are my next favorite to paint, followed by the iris. So, I spent most all of June painting one of the three. It was great!
This June, the Plein Air Artists of Colorado did an all day paint-a-thon/competition. We started the day off at 5 a.m. by painting a sunrise of downtown Denver. Then we moved on to a morning at Red Rocks Amphitheater. We then spent the afternoon at Lair O’ The Bear and Bear Creek. After that, we had an evening of painting at Evergreen Lake. The day ended with a competition where I was fortunate enough to get second place! Thank you PAAC! What a fun way to spend the day — 5 paintings and a 2nd place award!
Once again, there is so much more that I could tell you about each painting from this month, but for now, please sit back and hopefully enjoy June’s journey as much as I did painting it.
May love fill your heart and art fill your world.
Best Regards,
Ted
